backordering in not a substitution of not picking
by: Anonymous

Hi Cahty
THis is really an insightful post, but in my view, backorering is a misused feature in OM, It is not a substitute of not picking. Ideally if the user does not want to pick those serial numbers, he should be doing a subinventory transfer to move the good back in to the same location. Physically also, the goods will have to move back . So Oracle process should mirror the actual business process.

Manik's Query on Autosourcing
by: Cathy

Autosourcing is a topic that deserves a separate article.

For your purpose, you may refer the ASL Sourcing Whitepaper on the Metalink in Note 285470.1. Another good article is in Note 175935.1.

Hope this helps.

You have raised a topic that has been very contentious in the consulting world that lives and works at the corssroads of OM and Inventory!

The bug numbers that you have mentioned will help bring some calm and provide direction to future discussions on this topic.

Hi,
Thanks for this post, it's clear and make sens with reference to bug numbers it's easy to follow the rest of the story.

Did you try picking rule with lot numbers. or you can choose to generate serial numbers at sales order at item level then in the OM > transactions> tools > serial number > you can choose your serial numbers.

I'm not sure, you have to tried.
